Book Release for HYPERION KEATS by Molly Zenk

I have the great honor of hosting a new YA novel that is sure to charm both young and old alike. Molly Zenk's, HYPERION KEATS boasts of a bit of history and mystery--too of my favorite subjects. Make sure to add this to your list for gift giving this season!  Here's a peek!

Don't forget to enter the contest below! Great prizes!

Synopsis:

Three modern teens, a 200-year-old diary, a literary mystery to solve.

Twelve-year-old Hyperion Frances Keats, great-great grand niece of poet John Keats, hates tip-toeing around her older sister's “medical diagnosis”.  Why is Isabella so determined to turn her back on what makes her unique in a sea of wannabes?  Is popularity more important than the truth?

The sisters and boy-next-door Will find themselves in the middle of a mystery after discovering a 200-year-old diary written by the girl who inspired the sonnet “To A Lady Seen For A Moment At Vauxhall.”   The teens aren't the only ones after the answers found in the pages from the past, though.   The LBT Brotherhood – a secret society dedicated to preserving the Romantic Poets three creeds of  love, beauty, and truth – want the secrets contained in the diary to remain lost to time and will stop at nothing to silence Hyperion, Isabella, and Will forever.

 Excerpt:
I barely crack the door open before Neighbor Boy launches into a spiel that may or may not be rehearsed—I can't really tell because he's talking too fast for me to guess one way or the other. “Hi, I'm not a stalker or anything so don't get freaked out, okay? But I saw the historical marker in your front yard and had a couple of quick questions if you, uh, don't mind me, uh, asking. You don't mind me asking stuff, do you? I can go away if you do.”  He blinks nervously a ton of times in anticipation of me either saying yes and waiting for his couple of supposedly quick questions or no and slamming the door in his face. Why would I say no? He's the prettiest boy I've ever seen up close. Even if boys don't like to be called pretty, with his huge blue eyes and unruly, anime character hair, that's the only word that comes to mind. Pretty. My heart does this funny little fluttery jump like I've run a mile in under five minutes and I'm positive my palms are too sweaty to shut the door. Even if I wanted to, shutting the door means he'd go away and there's no way I'm letting that happen. Especially not on my birthday.

“Go ahead. Ask your questions,” I whisper because I seriously doubt I can say it louder even if I wanted to right now.

“Great.” He flashes a lopsided grin that makes my heart fluttering turn into a hammering. “Is this really the George Keats House? Like the real George Keats, brother to the poet John Keats’ house, and you actually live here-live here and not keep it up like a museum or something? Do I have to buy admission because I'm, like, standing on your yard?”

“Um, yes, yes, no, and no,” I field his jumbled together questions in order.

“Really? Are you like direct descendants or did you just buy the house from someone else and decided the historical marker was a cool trick to attract fan boys like me?”

His rapid fire, excited delivery is getting easier to understand. For a second, I think about Isabella by the window seat with her natural light waiting to make her good first impression, and about how Mom always tells me not to talk to strangers because she reads way too much of Nancy Grace's child snatching Headline News blog, but it's like my mouth is on auto-pilot as my heart ratchets away in my chest and I answer anything Neighbor Boy asks. “Direct,” I say. “Or Dad is, which makes us too. Mom was just a Romantic Poets fan girl who lucked out by meeting Dad in some college class and marrying in. They both teach at the university. British Lit.”

Neighbor Boy pushes his sandy blond hair out of his face with one long-fingered hand and, I think, even if I don't like to do manual labor on my birthday, I got the better deal by agreeing to open the front door. While Isabella is hanging out in the kitchen imaging what he's like, I don't have to imagine. I know.

Cover Reveal for Constance Phillips New Book--Council Courtship

Eero might be gone, but does his revolution continue?
Coming Nov. 1, 2013

Cover by Taria Reed
Council Courtship
Tristan Ipsly knows firsthand how Eero’s ideals have ripped houses apart. More than half of his family was prosecuted for supporting the revolution, the remaining fled to the otherworld, leaving him the lone member of his house, and one of two candidates for the recently vacated Council seat. As a healer who is seated on the Repopulation Project, he has real solutions to the problems that face them all, but fears he’s been branded a traitor, not worthy of the seat. How can he even think the head of the Vettore House would allow him to court Quinn.
Quinn Vettore knows that Fairykind is dying. Eero and his revolution have left them a people divided, but she believes tradition and the Canon’s writing are equally to blame. She wants to see the Council fill the recent vacancy with someone who will be the voice of change. The prime candidate in her mind is the same choice of her heart: Tristan.
Too bad her Grandfather is the one man who stands in the way of both.

On the one year anniversary of the release of Fairyproof, Constance Phillips unveils the cover to the novella follow up, Council Courtship. Follow Tristan and Quinn, along with some familiar faces, as they deal with the aftermath of Eero’s revolution…finding love in the ashes.

Also, please visit http://wwww.constancephillips.com/blog to participate in Fairyproof’s birthday party. Prizes!

Constance Phillips
Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, two ready-to-leave-the-nest children, and four canine kids. Her perfect fantasy vacation would involve hunting Dracula across Europe with her daughter, who also digs that kind of stuff. When she's not writing about fairies, shifters, vamps, and guardian angels, she's working side-by-side with her husband in their hardwood flooring business.
Constance is actively involved in her local Romance Writers of America chapter (MVRWA) and the Southeast Michigan chapter of the United States Pony Club. When not writing or enjoying the outdoors, she loves reality television or can be found at a Rick Springfield concert (just look for the pink Converse high tops).

Crescent Moon Press Summer Lovin' Blog Hop June 14-17

So much happening lately! My daughter graduated high school and my book came out all in the same day. According to me, summer has started--and the humid weather is proof!

Summer is the time to open the house in the morning and let the sun shine in. It's hikes up to my local state park and sitting outside at my favorite downtown restaurant on the creek side. It's Fourth of July fireworks on a blanket spread under the twinkling stars as I drink real lemonade and eat a hot dog. It's egg custard snowcones and root beer floats for getting the basement cleaned out (again). It's not having to get up and fight my daughter to get to school on time.

But it's also time for me when I get to read and write a bit without everyone having to be somewhere. So relax, sit back, enjoy the summer with a glass of iced tea, a good book and plenty of sunscreen.

Be sure to enter CMP Summer Lovin' Blog Hop contest for your chance to win some fantastic prizes! I am giving away an ebook of my recent release, Wanted: One Ghost to someone who leaves me a comment on my site.

Don't forget, the more blogs you visit the more chances you have to win the grand prize!

Interview with Crescent Moon Press author, Maer Wilson

I've recently had the honor of reading one of my Crescent Moon Press sisters, Maer Wilson's novel, Relics, and let me tell you--Relics is not a book to miss!  If you love to read fantasy/paranormal novels, you will find just about anything in this book to hit your taste buds.  Every fantasy becomes a reality and the Thulukan Agency is the place for the deceased and the fantastical creatures from other worlds to find help.  Maer's love for her characters and the fantasy world is found in the details of her descriptive scenes and emotions. The Thulukan family is one you want to call your own.

I am delighted to have my friend Maer Wilson with me today to talk about her new release, Relicsfrom Crescent Moon Press.

Tell us a little about yourself, Maer.

Thanks so very much for having me over, Loni. I used to act onstage in Southern California. Now I teach Theatre at a college and I write. I have two dogs, who are basically my kids. I collect dragons and don’t think one can have enough of them.

What inspired you to write Relics?

That came out of a gaming experience. I created the names Thulu and La Fi to give to some gaming friends of mine, who had similar names that could be confusing. I realized the names belonged to these characters instead. Well, at least they were there inside my head insisting the names belonged to them. Their characters were fully formed very quickly.

Was this genre something you’ve always wanted to write?  Do you enjoy this genre and who are some of your favorite genre authors?

I love the Urban Fantasy genre - well all of fantasy, actually. I didn’t even know all of the sub-genres, so wasn’t familiar with all of the terms when I was writing. I only knew I was writing something in Contemporary Fantasy as I wrote it. For Contemporary Fantasy, I’d have to say Tim Powers and Charlaine Harris. For other fantasy, George R.R. Martin and J.K. Rowling.

As an author and writer, how would you describe your method of writing? Are you a “pantser” or a “Plotter”?

A definite Pantser! I have a general idea where I’m going, but rarely know how I’m going to get there. I put the characters into the situation and see what happens.

Okay, now to get a little personal, if you don’t mind: Meditate for a moment (this might be the only time you get to relax today) LOL, and tell me—where would be the ideal setting for you right now. It could be anything or anywhere.  Something that helps you to relax or maybe bring out the creative side in you.

LOL You aren’t too far wrong on that relaxing thing, so thanks! This is on my mind because a friend is going to Jamaica soon. I’d love to be on a Caribbean cruise. I’m not sure how creative it would be, but that would definitely be relaxing. Want to come along?

When you are in writing mode, are you a visual person (do you need pictures around you), an audio person (music in the background) or complete silence for concentration?

Audio. I need my music soundtracks in the background. Not songs because words can be distracting, but film and gaming soundtracks are perfect. I also “see” the scenes in my head, so I think I might have a touch of the visual in there, too.

Tell us a little about Relics (blurb):

Most of Thulu and La Fi's clients are dead. Which is perfect since their detective agency caters to the supernatural. So, a job finding relics for an ancient daemon should be simple.

The daemon needs the relics to keep a dangerous portal closed. His enemy, Gabriel, wants the relics to open the portal and give his people access to a new feeding ground – Earth.

Stunning humanity with their existence, portals to other worlds begin to open and the creatures of magic return to Earth.

When Gabriel threatens their family, Thulu and La Fi's search becomes personal. The couple will need powerful allies in the race to find the relics before Gabriel does. But maybe that's what grateful dead, magical allies and daemonic clients are for.

When the creatures of myth and magic return to Earth, they're nothing like your mother's fairy tales.

Can you share a piece of your story with us? (excerpt):

I must have lost track of time because I heard a voice say, “You're going to turn into a prune.”
“Mhmm,” I answered.
The door opened. A cool draft of air wafted my way, swirling the steam in the shower. I peeked out to see Thulu shutting the door behind him. It was a great view.
“So, have I ever mentioned that I'm a soul reader?”
I moved forward to clear the small waterfall and gave him a suspicious look. One never knew with Thulu.
“No, I don't think you've shared that bit of information.”
“I'm quite good at it, actually.” He sat on one of the side seats and motioned to the one across from him. I moved to the other seat.
Nodding, he continued, “I'm quite surprised you didn't know this. In some circles, I'm known as the Great and Wonderful Reader of Souls.”
“Oh, really?  I'm shocked that this could have escaped my attention all these years.”
“Well, this is the perfect time for me to read yours. Being that you're all pruney.”
I looked at my hands. They were pretty pruney. I shrugged and held out my hand palm up.
